The Trollveggen cliff is part of the mountain massif Trolltindene (Troll Peaks) in the Romsdalen valley. It is located on the Norwegian west coast, near Åndalsnes and Molde.

The Trollveggen cliff is part of the mountain massif Trolltindene (Troll Peaks) in the Romsdalen valley. It is located on the Norwegian west coast, near Åndalsnes and Molde.

With it's 1,100 meters from the base to summit, the Trollveggen cliff is the tallest perpendicular mountain cliff in Europe. It is very steep and the summit actually overhangs the base in several areas. The cliff is a prestigious goal for climbers from all over the world.

Trollveggen towers above the Rauma River, a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts all over the world. The scenic Rauma Railway also passes through the valley below and you can experience the Trollveggen Cliff Face and the Raumabanen Railway on our Geiranger & Norway in a Nutshell® tour.

Facts about the Trollveggen Cliff Face:

  • It is 1,800 meter from the valley to the top of the cliff
  • At its steepest, the summit overhangs the base by nearly fifty meters
