Øvre Årdal is the largest of the two primary towns of the municipality Årdal in the county of Sogn og Fjordane on the western coast of Norway.

Årdal lies furthest in Sognefjorden and forms the gateway to Jotunheimen from the west. This position makes Øvre Årdal to an excellent base for many round-trips all over the region.
