Inner Oslofjord

Then drive to Moss, where it is well worth visiting Jeløya Gallery before continuing to Drøbak, a charming small town along the Oslofjord, famous for its lovely beaches and all-year Christmas house, home to the ‘real’ Santa Claus.

Continue along the Oslofjord to Drammen and then to Tønsberg, the oldest town in Norway.

Continue south until you come to the lovely, small town of Sandefjord, where you can enjoy the fresh sea air and sunbathe on the smooth rocks. This stretch of the route is a summer paradise with a rich boating life and plenty of great spots for swimming.

Follow the E 18 road until you come to Ibsen country in Telemark. There, you will come to the last stop on this route, Brevik, Skien and Porsgrunn, which have a thriving cultural scene.

The Telemark Canal from Skien to Dalen
Take a trip on the Telemark Canal, Norway’s only canal system that is linked to the sea. A total of eight locks and 18 lock chambers lift boats 72 metres from their starting point up to Flåvatn lake. From there, there are beautiful stretches of lakes and river before you arrive in Dalen, 105 kilometres inland in the heart of the mountains of Southern Norway.
