Continue to Namdalseid. If you are a keen salmon angler, you should continue on to Overhalla, where you can try your luck at salmon fishing on the Namsen, one of Norway's best salmon rivers.

Attractions the route like a string of pearls. Visit the island of Jøa in Olav Duun country (a Norwegian author) and the NORVEG Coastal Culture Centre in Rørvik. This route also takes you past Lekamøya, Torghatten, De Syv Søstre (the seven sisters), Dønnamannen and Hestmannen, all famous and legendary mountains. Torghatten, just 16 kilometres outside Brønnøysund, is a ‘must‘ for all visitors.

Just north of the polar circle lies the Svartisen glacier. And a little further north is Saltstraumen, the world’s strongest maelstrom, where the fishing is simply incredible.

The stretch of road from the Ranafjord to Saltstraumen near Bodø, is a National Tourist Route, and you will find tourist information and rest areas at the best viewpoints along the route.

After arriving in Bodø, you can take a boat trip, walk on marked paths in the mountains, cycle along lovely country roads, watch birds, go diving in Saltstraumen or go sightseeing by boat, train or on foot.

If you wish to experience the wilderness, we recommend the trip from Steinkjer to Ogndalen, the gateway to the Blåfjella mountains and Skjækerfjella National park.

If you do not wish to drive the entire Kystriksveien coastal highway, it is possible to shorten the distance by taking the RV 78 road to Mosjøen.
