The main part of this tour takes place in the Lofoten Islands, but you can start the tour from Bodø, Evenes, Oslo or Trondheim.

Skip the hassle of renting and driving a car, and travel comfortably through spectacular Lofoten in a modern low-emission bus!

Tour description

Your Lofoten adventure starts from either Bodø, Evenes, Oslo or Trondheim. From Bodø, you travel by boat along the Northern coastline passing through narrow straits and charming fishing villages. You will arrive in Svolvær, Lofoten's biggest town, where you enjoy one or more overnight stays to explore this fascinating urban hub of Lofoten. There are lots of things to do in Svolvær and the city is surrounded by breathtaking mountain peaks, so there are endless opportunities for both natural and urban exploration.

You continue from Svolvær by traveling by bus southwards on the Lofoten archipelago. On this comfortable bus ride you will experience amazing views of stunning rugged mountains, picturesque villages, azure fjords, colorful fishing cabins and untouched nature.

Add an overnight stay in Reine

The bus stops in Reine - often described as Lofoten’s most scenic village. This is the perfect base for anyone wanting to explore Lofoten on hikes, kayaking trips, or fishing expeditions. We highly recommend an overnight stay in Reine. Here, you can stay in comfortable, authentic, and traditional “rorbuer”, charming cabins by the sea.

From Reine you continue to Moskenes, where a ferry takes you to Bodø. While crossing the Norwegian Sea and Vestfjord, you can reflect on the amazing Lofoten adventure you have experienced!

Tour Highlights

Svolvær

Svolvær is the largest town in Lofoten and is known as the gateway to Lofoten. This is the first place you arrive at when entering the Lofoten Islands. Surrounded by breathtaking mountain peaks, there are endless opportunities to experience the dramatic landscape. There are several exciting nature activities on offer, as well as cafes, restaurants, and shopping. At the breakwater pier in Svolvær, you can see the large statue "Fiskerkona", or "The Fishermans Wife". Fishing has always been vital in Lofoten, but throughout history, many men lost their lives at sea. The Fiskerkona statue is a symbol and reminder of what the women of Lofoten had to endure.

Lofoten Archipelago Bus Trip

In Lofoten, you'll discover azure blue beaches, emerald green mountainsides, rugged peaks, and a sun that graciously lingers on the horizon, never fully setting. On this bus journey you'll intimately encounter a breathtaking landscape, quickly realizing why Lofoten is considered one of the world's most captivating destinations. Relax in a comfortable bus seat, and immerse yourself in 3.5 hours of unspoiled, dynamic nature. Keep your eyes peeled; you might witness majestic sea eagles plucking fish from the waters, or catch a glimpse of other playful creatures frolicking in the rolling waves.

Reine

One of the main reasons for visiting Reine in Lofoten is its breathtaking surroundings and landscape. This tiny fishing village consists of several small islands connected by bridges. Reine is a perfect base for adventures in Lofoten nature. We’d recommend using a kayak to get up close to the islands or take a hike up to the popular Reinebringen. This route leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints on all Lofoten Islands: an epic panorama of Reinefjorden and the Lofoten Wall.

The Midnight sun

When visiting the Lofoten islands during the summer season, you can experience the magical Midnight sun. This remarkable natural phenomenon occurs only at certain times of the year and very close to the Arctic. Norway is one of the few countries where you can actually experience the Midnight sun. Lofoten Islands is a perfect place to visit to witness this unique phenomenon where sunsets merge into the sunrise with no darkness in between.
