Bergstadens Hotel

The structure of Bergstadens Hotel dates from the 17th century, but the hotel of course has since been expanded and modernized. The hotel can now offer 90 rooms (ranging from single rooms to 2-bedroom suites).

The mountain town of Røros is one of the few places in Norway that is on UNESCO's list of conservative cultural monuments. With its unique architecture and preserved wooden houses, Røros is a living museum.

Food at Røros

Røros has become well known for it's locally produced food and beverages, including reindeer, organic dairy products and beer. There are elements of local food in all restaurants, and we can offer Tydals Røye, local reindeer and deer for dinner. In addition, we use both mushrooms, berries and moss from our own "garden".

Bergstadens Restaurant

Bergstadens Restaurant is located at Bergstadens Hotel with access from the lobby. The hotel's restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The breakfast has been named as the "Best Food Experience" in the "Twinings Best Breakfast" competition. The restaurant seats 180 guests and our ambition is to combine local produce with modern cuisine.

Peder Hiort Mathus

Peder Hiort Mathus is located in the Bergmann wing of the hotel, or the old director's house. The restaurant offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere, with old artefacts and photographs from the Røros mining history decorating the space. A menu of local produce with international impulses is served here as well as a large pizza menu.

Skanckebua

In the center of Kjerkgata, in Røros city center, you will find Skanckebua, a place full of soul and atmosphere. In Skanckebua you can enjoy different coffees, good food and drinks. At the bottom of Skanckebua we find the butter cellar (Smørkjelleren), the soul of the old traditional building.

The Butter Cellar (Smørkjelleren)

What about a meal in the The Butter Cellar? The Butter Cellar is a small and intimate room for up to 20 people. The room was previously used to store dairy products,  but with the addition of warm, rustic interior and a tailor made menu, the former "refrigerator" has become one of our most popular venues!

Welcome to Røros and Bergstadens Hotel!
