Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell

Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell is a somewhat untraditional hotel - with it's restored wood laggings from the 1800s consisting of 11 different houses. The streets have become the "lobby" and the old houses have definitely come back to life again!

The place was originally an important seaport in the days of sailing, and this idyllic coastal culture environment is one of the most visited destination in Rogaland. It is the only place in Norway where the old wooden buildings from the 1700's and 1800's, plus the surrounding cultural landscape is all protected by law by the Directorate of Cultural Heritage.

On site, there is an artgallery, a cafe and a cosy restaurant where you may enjoy traditional, homemade meals. Sokndal is an exciting municipality with an interesting history, and many sights and activities – all worth exploring.

Close to the sea, a varied and hilly landscape, the surrounding area has a lot to offer; Unesco Geopark Magma with over 30 marked hiking-trails, cozy bike routes, kayaking, fishing and golf. Attractions such as Northern Europe's largest movable boulder, the old houses by Helleren, Jøssingfjord known from World War 2 and a 2000 years preserved fertility cult.
