Below is a collection of the most frequently asked questions in regards to our tours, overnight stays during tours, transfer points during and so on.
Tours
No, there is no guide on our tours. You travel on your own by following the travel itinerary.
The tours have been organized so everyone should reach each connection. The connections and transfer points are all within close proximity of each other for easy transfer. Stops are always announced over the speakers.
When booking a tour, you will also gain access to the Fjord Tours Travel Guide APP which is a "digital guidebook" for your tour. Read more about the app HERE.
You cannot choose your own seats on the trains that require seat reservation. The system will pick seats for you. The seat assignment will be confirmed on the e-ticket you receive after booking has been completed.
You receive your confirmation and E-ticket by e-mail after you have made your booking. Please check your spam mail box if you do not receive the confirmation and E-ticket in your in-box.
You use your mobile device to present your ticket during the tour, but we also recommend you to print a copy of your E-ticket to bring along with you since WIFI is not available on all the tour legs.
Please note: You do not pick up the tickets in a ticket office. The name of each traveller are specified on the train legs of the tour, the other legs will not be specified under name.
If you have added an activity, hotel or Fjord Pass® to your order this will also be specified on your E-ticket.
There is no student or senior discount on any of our package trips to the fjords.
We do however have student discounts on our ski tickets to Voss and Myrkdalen.
You can bring your luggage with you on the trip. There are places to store the luggage on each transport leg. Be aware that you have to carry the luggage yourself from train to bus to boat etc, but the connections are all within close proximity for easy transfer.

The Ski Ticket is a simple and affordable package that combines train, bus and ski-lift passes in one easy purchase. With the Ski Ticket you travel easily from Norways biggest towns to Norway's best ski resorts, including Geilo, Voss and Myrkdalen.
You save money with the Ski Ticket compared to buying tickets separately, and you travel in an easy and environmentally friendly way!

The part between Ålesund and Bergen are with the Hurtigruten ship and you are spending the night onboard. Cabin with breakfast is included in the package.
From Ålesund to Geiranger you take a catamaran on the fjord cruise.
Children under 4 years old travel for free. You must however also book the trip for your infant so we can make sure that you get suitable seats.
When you book your tour in the booking process, you can press the "+" symbols on certain destinations. When pressing the "+" symbol you get a choice of adding accommodation or an activity in this destination. Simply follow the steps to add a hotel to your tour.
If you want to arrange an overnight stay without booking your hotel through Fjord Tours, press "I'd rather book on my own."
Yes, you can. But you need to add a translator extension to the browser you are using. Google Translate is a good option.
To add an extension in Chrome, follow these steps:
- In Chrome, open the Chrome Web Store.
- Find the extension you want, by using the search tab. Search for a translator extension, for example "Google Translate".
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Click Add extension to grant the extension access to your data and install the extension.
- To use the extension, click the icon to the right of the address bar in Chrome.
To add an extension in Firefox, follow these steps:
- In Firefox, open the Firefox Add-On page.
- Find the add-on you want, by using the search tab. Search for a translator extension, for example "Google Translate".
- Click Add to Firefox.
- To use the extension, click the icon to the right of the address bar in Firefox.
To add an extension in Microsoft Edge, follow these steps:
- Open Microsoft Edge and select Settings and more > Extensions > Get extensions from Microsoft Store. (If you don't see Extensions on the menu, note that you must have the Windows 10 Anniversary Update before you can use extensions.)
- Select the extension you want, and select Free to install it.
- Once the installation is complete, switch back to Microsoft Edge.
- Read the notification about what the extension will be allowed to do, and select Turn on.

Note: This is the age range for our tours and package trips. The age range for activities may vary from activity to activity. You can see the age ranges for activities in the booking box on each activity page.
With minor delays the next connection will be informed and will wait for the travelers.
For larger traffic interruption it will be organized alternative transport. It is important that you listen to the information given over the load-speaker and by the staff on board.
The onboard staff will always have the updated status and will give you information on how to continue further on the tour.

Accommodation
There are two different boats that operate on the fjord cruise between Gudvangen and Flåm. See more detailed information HERE.
The Premium fjord cruise boat is normally operating during the winter season. However, sometimes the Classic fjord cruise boat replaces the Premium due to weather conditions (ice on the fjord) or other circumstances. The boat is called “Winter fjord cruise boat” on the tickets during this season.

We recommend you to book the trip online as soon as you have decided the travel date. It is recommendable to buy the tickets in advance since some of the trains might be fully booked close to departure date, especially in the high season.
If you don't have the opportunity to buy the tour in advance you can buy it in one of our sales outlets in Norway.
Please note: The Geirangerfjord & Norway in a nutshell®, the Hurtigruten & Norway in a nutshell®, the Northern lights & Norway in a nutshell® and the Pulpit Rock & Norway in a nutshell® trips can only be booked in advance on our website www.fjordtours.com.
Yes, you can make as many overnight stops as you like along the route.
Press the "+" symbol on destinations in the booking process to see availiable hotels. Add one of the hotels to you tour or press "I'd rather book on my own.". Your itinerary will be updated accordingly.
Geirangerfjord & Norway in a nutshell® includes all transportation stretches and cabin with breakfast on Hurtigruten from Ålesund to Bergen. If you want single cabin on Hurtigruten you need to pay extra for this.
You can choose between a fjord cruise on the Lysefjord where you see the Pulpit Rock from the fjord or a cruise and hiking trip where you walk up to the Pulpit Rock. Be aware that the hiking trip is not available the whole season.
You can stay over in Stavanger and Sandnes on this trip.
No, you are staying on the same Hurtigruten ship from Bergen to Hjørundfjord and back to Ålesund.
Yes, you can add the Trolltunga hike to your tour, but you must stop over 2 nights on the trip in Odda in order to add it to your tour.
No, it is not guaranteed since it is depending on the weather conditions. However, the Northern light safari is going to an area where it is most likely to see the Northern lights so you have good chances to experience it on the tour.
No. If you want to also see the Naroyfjord, we recommend you to take the round trip from Bergen start by train and add the Heritage fjord safari trip which goes into the Naeroyfjord and back to Flåm. This can be done in one day.
If you start the trip from Oslo you have to stay over in Flam to be able to add the Heritage fjord safari trip.
There is no food included in our tours, with exception from (onboard) the Hurtigruten distances Trondheim-Bergen, Ålesund-Bergen and Bergen-Ålesund, where breakfast is included in the price.
It is not possible to buy the Geiranger tour without the Norway in a nutshell® part via Fjord Tours booking service.
If you use a non-foldable wheelchair, it is not possible per today to book seats on our tours including trains. We are working to make this an option in our booking system.
You can bring your dog with you on our tours. You must pay an additonal fee to bring your dog with you on the express boat included in the Sognefjord in a nutshell tours and on the Hardangerfjord in a nutshell & Rosendal tour. This fee is paid on the boat.
Fjord Tours do not offer a cancellation protection, so we recommend everyone to buy a private travel insurance covering potential cancellation.
Pick up service or transfer to/from hotels is not inluded in our package tours.

Voss: Change from train to bus or vice versa. The bus to/from Ulvik arrives/departs at Voss Railway Station. The bus is located outside the railway station. Please look for bus with sign for Voss-Ulvik.
Norheimsund: Change from boat to bus or vice versa. The bus stops at the harbour next to the express boat.
Eidfjord:Change from boat to sightseeingbus and vice versa. The bus departs from the quai, just beside the fjordboat.
Ulvik: Change from bus to boat or vice versa. The bus stops next to the express boat at the harbour, approx. 2 min.
Oslo: The trains for all our trips departs from the Oslo Central Railway Station (Oslo S).

Oslo: Arrival/departure by plane to/from Oslo Airport Gardermoen, 28 mi./45 km north of city center. Transport by airport train or airport bus.
Tromsø: Arrival/departure by plane to/from Tromsø Airport, 1.8 mi./3 km west of city center. Transport by bus or taxi.
Bergen: The train departs from Bergen railway station.

Odda: Bus departs from Odda bus terminal to Lofthus. The bus from Odda to Lofthus is marked with "Eidfjord".
Lofthus: Change form bus to Express boat from Lofthus harbour to Eidfjord.
Eidfjord: Change from boat to sightseeingbus and vice versa. The bus departs from the quai, just beside the fjordboat.
Ulvik: Change from boat to bus. The bus stops next to the express boat at the harbour.
Voss: Change from bus to train. The bus from Ulvik arrives just outside Voss Station.
Oslo: The train arrives/departs from Oslo Central Station.

Sogndal: Change from bus to bus at Sogndal bus terminal. The buses are located close to one another at the terminal. The UNESCO Fjord Bus is clearly marked and easy to find.
Change from bus to bus to Leikanger.
Flåm: Change from express boat to train or vice versa. The Norled boat terminal is situated next to the railway station. The express boat for Sognefjord in a nutshell departs from pier no.2.
Myrdal: Change train for the Flåm Railway or for the Bergen Railway. The trains are located next to each other.

The bus departs from the express bus terminal, field O and is signed for Norheimsund. Approx. 5 min. walk from the train station.
Pulpit Rock & Norway in a nutshell®:
The express bus "Kystbussen" to/from Bergen arrives/departs at Bergen bus terminal, field N. Approx. 5 minutes walk from Bergen railway station.
Hardangerfjord in a nutshell & Rosendal tour:
The boat to Rosendal departs from the far end of the Strandkaiterminal, towards the building marked «Blaauwgården».
Sognefjord in a nutshell & UNESCO Fjord bus tour:
Departs with the express boat from Strandkaiterminalen. The terminal is situated next to the Fish Market and approx. 10 min. walk from Bergen railway station.
Hjørundfjorden & Norway in a nutshell:
Departs with the Hurtigruten ship from Hurtigrute terminal. The terminal is situated approx. 10 min. walk from the centre of Bergen.

Transfer between boat and bus at the Lofthus quay, located 200 meters east of Hotel Ullensvang. The bus will take you to/from Odda.

Change train for the Flåm Railway or for the Bergen Railway. The trains are located next to each other.

Change from bus to bus at Sogndal bus terminal. The buses are located close to one another at the terminal.

Change from bus to bus at Sogndal bus terminal. The buses are located close to one another at the terminal. The UNESCO Fjord Bus is clearly marked and easy to find.
Pulpit Rock & Norway in a nutshell®:
The express bus "Kystbussen" to/from Stavanger arrives/departs at Stavanger bus terminal just beside Stavanger railway station.
The Lysefjord cruise departs from Skagenkaien in Stavanger. Please meet minimum 20 minutes before departure.
The train to/from Oslo arrives/departs from Stavanger railway station. The railway station is located in the city centre.
Hurtigruten & Norway in a nutshell®:
Hurtigruten departs from pier no. 1 at the Hurtigruten Terminal in Trondheim.
Hardangerfjord in a nutshell:

TRAIN: If your route from Bergen is directed to gGudvangen, depart the train at Voss. If your route is directed to Myrdal, continue on the same train.
BUS: The bus to/from Gudvangen arrives/departs a 250 meter walk from the railway station following the signs or instructions from the staff. Bus to Gudvangen is marked "950 Gudvangen - Norway in a nutshell®

Change from train to bus or vice versa. The bus to/from Ulvik arrives/departs at Voss Railway Station. The bus is located outside the railway station. Please look for bus with sign for Voss-Ulvik.

Hurtigruten departs from Skansekaia.

Change from train to bus. The bus is waiting outside the railway station. Please look for bus with sign for Ålesund.
Luggage service and transportation
You can bring your luggage with you on the trip. There are places to store the luggage on each transport leg. Be aware that you have to carry the luggage yourself from train to bus to boat etc, but the connections are all within close proximity for easy transfer.

Yes, there are luggage lockers at the railway station in Flåm and at the Strandkaiterminal in Bergen.
There are no luggage lockers at the Hurtigruten Terminal in Ålesund. We recommend you to contact the hotel you are staying at in Ålesund to hear if you can keep your luggage there until you are departing for Bergen.
You can leave your luggage at the hotel you stay at in Ålesund. They have storage place for luggage. You have time collect your luggage again before the Hurtigruten departs from Ålesund.
