Tonje's Travelogue 1: The Best Summer Holiday Ever
In a new article series called «Tonje’s Travelogue», you can join Douglas and Tonje on their trip of a lifetime! In a summer when travel abroad was difficult, Doglas and Tonje explored Norway from Stavanger and Lysefjord in the south, through mountains and fjords in the west, to the fisherman's oasis of Lofoten in the North.
Covid-19 has had a huge effect on the way of the world and suddenly things we took for granted were in jeopardy. Travel is of course one of those things and this year's summer travel plans were turned upside down, not only in Norway but all over the world. In 2019, as many as 35.2 million guest nights were registered in Norway, but predominately by foreign visitors. Norwegians usually spend their summer holidays in countries such as the USA, Spain, Italy, France, or Greece. But this year we had to think new!

We, Douglas and Tonje, are a Scottish-Norwegian couple who love to travel and explore. Some of our favorite destinations have included Cuba, Ecuador, Iceland, and Japan. This summer it was finally time to stop and appreciate what we have on our own doorstep.
In the upcoming series of articles, we will share tales and experiences from our trip around Norway. Join us on our 4000 km journey through this beautiful land and hopefully gather inspiration and insight for the time to come when the world opens back up to international tourism.

Our Instagram feeds, normally full of umbrella drinks under palm trees, city breaks, and shopping trips across Europe were suddenly flooded with pictures of Lofoten's pristine white beaches, Loen and Fjærland's emerald green glacial waters, and iconic mountain shots from around the country. It would seem many had their best summer holiday ever, right here in Norway! And now, you can definitely include us in that bracket.

If you follow Fjord Tours on Facebook, we may have popped up on your screen with a live broadcast from somewhere; on a RIB-tour on the Lysefjord, flying in the wind tunnel in Voss, driving an electric car to Stegastein, climbing the Via Ferrata in Åndalsnes or standing on top of some stunning peaks in Lofoten.
