About Fjord Tours

Fjord Tours started in Bergen in 1982 to make vacationing in Norway easier. Our first product, named Fjord Pass, was a printed discount book that gave travelers reduced rates across a network of hotels, cabins, and motels around the country. It cost 50 kroner, covered a whole family, and grew over the years to include car rental and activities.

In 2001, our story evolved. Fjord Tours took over the packaged round trips that had been run by the railway, including Norway in a Nutshell®, and set out to build them into good, well-run travel products.

We started with a handful of people in an office at Bergen railway station, booking every trip by hand. Over the next two decades, we grew the range of tours, built our own booking technology, and connected directly into Norway's rail and transport network so you can plan your whole trip in one place.

Today we're still a team based in central Bergen, still doing the same thing we set out to do in 1982: making connections and making travel in Norway seamless and rewarding.

We want to change Norwegian travel for the better. A big part of that is encouraging you to use public transport, instead of driving or flying. We believe the best way to experience Norway is also the most responsible one: by train, boat and bus, connected end to end.
