Winter snowshoe hike above Flåm valley

Tour description

Join a guided snowshoe hike at Vatnahalsen, 867 meters above sea level. Your experience begins at Flåm Railway Station, where you meet your guide before traveling up the mountain on the famous Flåm Railway. As the train climbs from the fjord into the winter landscape, you make your way towards Vatnahalsen above Flåm Valley.
Once you arrive, your guide will introduce you to the snowshoes and show you how to walk comfortably in them. No previous snowshoeing experience is needed.
After everyone is strapped in, it’s time to head out into the snow. Follow your guide on an easy 1.3 km snowshoe hike through the winter landscape, with around 50 meters of elevation gain. Snowshoes make it easier to walk across deep winter snow and explore beyond the usual paths.
Enjoy the peaceful winter surroundings as you make your way through the snow, with mountain views and the sound of your snowshoes beneath your feet. Along the way, your guide will share stories about the nature, history, and local culture of the Flåm area.
After the hike, return to Vatnahalsen Hotel and warm up with a bowl of soup. The tour ends at Vatnahalsen. From here, you can travel back to Flåm or take the short train ride to Myrdal for onward connections to Oslo or Bergen.
