This trip suits everyone who wants to spend a few hours on the fjord and get the good feeling of kayaking. This is a perfect half-day activity with lunch that suits the whole family.
The trip starts from the kayak base to "Uteguiden" in Hellesylt, the perfect kayak destination according to them. After a safety introduction, outfitting of the kayak and some paddle instructions we are ready to set out in the fjord and explore to wildlife. We follow the shoreline out from Hellesylt and have good chances to see eagles, porpoise and otters.
During the tour a lunch consisting of local food is included and your guide will tell you stories about the mountain farms in the area. You will also get to hear about the mountain Åkerneset which is on its way to fall down in the fjord!
What to wear and bring with you on this tour
In general we recommend you to wear multiple light layers. The biggest comfort while kayaking is secured by using wool underlays and hard-shell jacket. It´s good to have a jacket with proper ventilation. On the legs it´s good with a light pant that dries fast.
Remember that the weather on the Norwegian west coast can change fast, and it´s not unusual that we have rain and blue skies in the same day. Therefore it´s important that you have clothing that could withstand all different kinds of weather when you pack for this trip.
Some of the guides often use a normal cap on the kayaking, it protects you from sun, and rain. A cap could often help out to give your eyes a rest if it´s windy outside too.
On all the kayaks there´s a hatch that is waterproof , and where you can storage the things you want to bring, you can take the stuff you want to have with you in a backpack or a bag. We also have dry bags at our activity centre that you can borrow.
Why go on this trip?
The guides that will accompany you have the best local knowledge of the area and will assure your safety throughout the whole trip. During the trip you get to experience nature’s finest resulting in a great day in the Norwegian outdoors.
Have a nice trip!
