Utstein Monastery

Utstein Monastery is Norway’s only preserved medieval monastery, and is now run as a museum, conference and banquet facility.

The public have access to the monastery church, sacristy, courtyard, refectory (the monks’ dining room), the monks’ kitchen and manor rooms. In addition, the beautiful garden with its 250-year-old beechwood trees is also open to visitors.

The monastery is located in idyllic surroundings at Mosterøy in Rennesøy, a half-hour drive from Stavanger.

Note: By buying a ticket to this museum, you also get free entry to other museums part of Museum Stavanger, if you use your ticket on the same day.
