Geiranger Skywalk - Dalsnibba

  • Sightseeing and Guided Tours

Mount Dalsnibba is situated 1500 meters above sea level in Geiranger, Norway. From Dalsnibba you can look out over snow-covered peaks and all the way down to Geirangerfjord. Depending on the time of the day you come, you may also experience a magical sunrise or sunset.

The weather changes quickly up here and, if you’re lucky, you can experience all four seasons in one day. There is snow lying at Mt. Dalsnibba for large parts of the summer. Many have their first snowball fight at Dalsnibba.

To reach Dalsnibba, follow the Nibbevegen road, one of the most ambitious road-building projects ever seen in Norway. The road is considered one of the foremost symbols of tourism in Geiranger, and the trip to Dalsnibba is an experience at any point in the summer season. The road is asphalted and there are plenty of bus pull-ins.

The road up to Dalsnibba is a sequence of hairpins and is an experience in itself. If you come early in the season, you’ll pass high banks of snow. As the snow melts, you can see more and more of Blåbreen glacier and the countless small cairns that visitors build every year.

Starting your trip from Geiranger lets you experience the entire height difference from 0 to 1500 meters above sea lever. From Geiranger, it’s about a 45-minute drive up to Dalsnibba. The road is an experience in itself, with many excellent photo opportunities along the way.

Geiranger Skywalk is the name of the new platform at Dalsnibba that opened in 2016. Walking out on to the platform through the ingenious floor surface and glass guard rail is a truly magical experience! The sensation of the wind coming up through the floor surface almost makes you feel you’re walking on the clouds. You’ll experience the spectacular views of Geiranger, the fjord and the surrounding mountains in a completely new way.

While working on Geiranger Skywalk, new parking areas were built and the old path restored. The 300m path is an experience in itself. Don’t miss the opportunity to admire the starling work of the palese Sherpa who restored it. Perhaps you’ll spot a few surprises along the way too.

The unique service building was completed in 2004. Its distinctive architecture enables it to blend in with the surroundings. The shop sells a range of unique Geiranger Skywalk-products, including clothing, postcards and other souvenirs. We also offer locally sourced products such as juices and jams from “Valldal Safteri” as well as a good selection of Geiranger chocolate.
