UNESCO Nærøyfjord Postal Road hike

Your adventure starts at Bakka, where a short 5-minute boat shuttle takes you across the fjord to Bleiklindi. From here, your local guide leads you along the historic postal route that mail carriers walked for 500 years. The path follows the shoreline through lush forest, past waterfalls cascading down the mountainsides, and offers clear views across the narrow fjord to the settlements on the opposite shore.

About halfway through, you'll stop at a scenic spot by the water for lunch. Your guide serves locally sourced food while sharing stories about the farmers who once lived in these remote valleys. If the weather is good, you can take a quick swim in the clear fjord water. The hike continues to the old settlement of Styvi, where your boat picks you up for a scenic return to Bakka.
