The Stegastein viewpoint is a 30 meter long and 4-meter wide construction made of steel and laminated pine. It was designed by Todd Saunders and Tommie Wilhelmsen and completed in 2006. On the platform 650 meters above sea level, you will have panoramic views of the Aurlandsfjord, Aurlandsvangen, and the mountains. Tour description
Tour Description
The tour starts near the railway station in Flåm and continues out the beautiful bay towards the area's municipal center, Aurland. On the way out the fjord, you will pass by Otternes, where you will catch a glimpse of a cluster of 18th-century farms on the hillside.
When you get to Aurland, the climb starts up towards Stegastein's vantage point. On the way up the steep mountainside towards Stegastein, you will have a scenic view over the Aurlandsfjord and the beautiful mountains. After a stop on the top of around 25 minutes, the trip continues back to Flåm.
Along the way, a guide will supply you with interesting information about the area, the landscape, and the local history.
