The home of the Flåm Railway
The small picturesque village of Flåm, is situated innermost in the Aurlandsfjord, an arm of the 204-km long and up to 1308-metre-deep Sognefjord. Flåm is the end station of the popular Flåm Railway,which is included in several of our popular round trips.
Flåm has a population of appximately 400 inhabitants and is situated in Aurland municipality, which consists of Flåm, Aurland, Gudvangen and Undredal. In 1980 most of the people in Flåm were farmers, today most of the inhabitants work in the tourism industry or with the railway. Today Flåm is one of the most popular cruise harbours in Norway.
In the centre of Flåm you will find a grocery shop and shops selling souvenirs, arts and crafts. There are also cafés, restaurants and Fjord Pass® hotels. The documentation centre for the Flåm Railway is open all year and the Tourist Information is open during the summer season.
Flåm is also the perfect place for out door activities such as fjord safari, kayaking and walking.
